About Me

Dr Bala is a globally trained surgeon specialising in complex Shoulder Elbow and Hand surgery. After graduating from Christian Medical College Vellore India, Pradeep went on to complete his specialist orthopaedic training at MP Shah Medical College, Saurashtra University, Gujarat, India. He furthered his orthopaedic education with an Arthroscopy fellowship at Ortho One Orthopaedic Speciality Centre, Coimbatore India which an ISAKOS accredited centre. He practised as an independent consultant in South India for a period of 5 years following which he visited Australia for higher training. He spent a year as an Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited Sports Surgery and Arthroplasty Fellow and 3 years as a Shoulder, Elbow, Hand and Microsurgery Fellow in international centres of excellence such as Sportsmed SA, Lyell Mc Ewin and Modbury Hospitals, Adelaide Australia. Dr Bala has been involved with research, postgraduate training and administration for over a decade and are an academically acknowledged former Assistant Professor at the Government Erode Medical College in India.

Dr Bala has performed close to 5000 surgical procedures with special expertise in Shoulder, Elbow and Hand Surgery: Shoulder arthroscopy, Primary and Revision Shoulder replacement surgery including Patient-specific instrumentation and custom-made implants, Elbow arthroscopy, Wrist arthroscopy, Sports Surgery in athletes and sports professionals, Tendon and Nerve repairs and microsurgery and Complex hand surgery. Dr Bala has been involved in the research teams for navigation-based joint replacement using Optimized Orthopaedics and in designing novel cement spacers for infected joint replacements in the shoulder.

Dr Bala is a life member of the Indian Orthopaedic Association, Indian arthroscopy Society, Australian Orthopaedic Association, Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, AO trauma member and Indian Association for Sports Medicine.

While he operates in Burjeel Speciality Hospital, Sharjah UAE as their visiting Shoulder Elbow and Hand Surgeon he consults at MGM Medical Centre, Sharjah UAE and Jabalsina Medical Centre, Ajman, UAE.

Pradeep was an athlete in his own right understanding the needs of professional and recreational athletes. As former university cycling and walking champion and former captain of university and school basketball teams, he has an affinity with active people. He still competes in marathons and socially enjoys basketball, cycling and trekking and rock climbing. Having been a drummer in the college band Pradeep understands the complex needs of the upper limb to musicians.
