About Dr Pradeep Bala

Dr Bala has performed close to 5000 surgical procedures with special expertise in Shoulder, Elbow Hand and microsurgery: Shoulder arthroscopy, Primary and Revision Shoulder replacement surgery including Patient specific instrumentation and custom-made implants, Elbow arthroscopy, Wrist arthroscopy, Sports Surgery in athletes and sports professionals, Tendon and Nerve repairs and microsurgery and Complex hand surgery. Dr Bala has been involved in the research teams for navigation based joint replacement using Optimized Orthopaedics and in designing novel cement spacers for infected joint replacements in the shoulder.

Dr Bala is a life member of the Emirates Orthopaedic Society, Indian Orthopaedic Association, Australian Orthopaedic Association, Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association, AO Trauma, Indian arthroscopy Society, APOA Hand and Upper Limb Society, Shoulder and Elbow Society of India, Emirates Society for Hand Surgeons, Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand and Indian Association for Sports Medicine.

Dr Bala currently consults and operates in Reem Hospital AbuDhabi, UAE as a Shoulder Elbow and Hand Surgeon.

Pradeep was an athlete in his own right, understanding the needs of professional and recreational athletes. As former university cycling and walking champion and former captain of university and school basketball teams, he has an affinity with active people. He still competes in marathons and socially enjoys basketball, cycling and trekking and rock climbing. Having been a drummer in the college band Pradeep understands the complex needs of the upper limb of musicians.
